Administration

Editor admins see an Admin link in the sidebar, which opens /translate/admin. Admins are a separate list from translators; ask the editor's maintainer to be added.

Most of the time there is nothing to do here: pushes sync on their own and translators work from the inbox. The admin page is for setting up projects and checking on them.

The admin page

  • Server status (the button beside the title): whether the editor's server settings are in place. Click it for the details and the webhook settings to give a new repository.
  • Projects, under Needs setup or Ready, each with its progress. A project that needs setup says what it is missing (see Registering the Project).
  • Recent syncs: the latest syncs from pushes and by hand.

To work out each project's status, the page reads every branch's English file from its repo and opens every live preview address in a hidden frame. Check again repeats this. Analytics on those sites may count these as visits.

A project's panel

Click a project to open its panel. Each watched branch has a card with:

  • Sync: sync the branch from its repo now. Shows every change first; nothing is written until Apply.
  • The ⋯ menu:
    • Sync from a file…: sync from an English file you upload, for a project with no repo.
    • Check old Irish…: find Irish that looks done but was written for older English. Mainly useful once, when an app moves from the old editor (see Moving from the Old Editor).
    • Stop watching: stop syncing this branch.

The project's settings are at the bottom of the panel.

Syncing by hand

Pushes sync automatically, so syncing by hand is only needed:

  • for a branch's first sync;
  • to catch up on pushes made while the editor couldn't receive them;
  • after changing a project's repo or English file.

The sync dialog shows every string it would change, grouped by namespace. A string removed from this branch but still on another says so: it stays in the editor, and only this branch stops using it. A string removed from every branch is archived, with its Irish kept.

Warnings

The editor reads the apps' repositories with access tokens that expire. From a month before a token expires, admins see a warning in the sidebar, with the steps to renew it. Renewing it is a server change, done through the infrastructure repository.
